Our Policies at Rozelle

We encourage the principals of choice, dignity, independence, safety and security, participation and feedback on all aspects of the service we provide. Service users and their families are encouraged to express their views openly, and to attend review meetings every 6 months. Copies of care plans and policies are available at any time.

Service users are encouraged to continue their involvement with the local community, such as churches, clubs etc, and there is a monthly church service held within the home.

Our activities organiser provides entertainment four days per week, and organises regular outings for everyone whenever health allows. We have a physiotherapist who attends monthly for exercise programmes, and a weekly gardening and coffee club.

There are televisions in each room, although there is always the option of bringing your own television, and some furniture to make your room more homely (providing furnishings are fire retardant).

There is opportunity to be involved in our activities programme, and we have regular professional entertainers who visit and provide concerts. We also have regular bus outings, and hold support groups for family members and friends 4 times per year.

Visiting

There is open visiting, with no restrictions made, although we would suggest that you avoid meal times which are 1200-1300hs, and 1600-1700hs. We normally lock doors between 9pm and 6am, so if you intend to visit during these hours we would suggest that you phone to let us know as a courtesy. Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit and be part of the home at all times.

Suggestions and comments are welcomed at any times. Our activities organiser regularly holds service user/family meetings, and any suggestions for improvement of our service are greatly received.

Alcohol

Alcoholic beverages may be brought into the home, so long as this is stored in a secure area. There is no objection to the consumption of alcohol, so long as this does not lead to violent or disruptive behaviour.

Smoking

Rozelle is a non smoking building, however arrangements can be made to accommodate those who can safely smoke, by contacting our manager.

Telephone

Service users may organise for a personal telephone to be fitted in their own bedrooms, at their own expense.

Pets

Service users are permitted to have small pets such as fish, birds, hamsters etc, which are confined to the service users own room. The service user will be responsible for the care of such pets.

Hairdressing

For your convenience we have a fully equipped hairdressing salon within the home. The salon is manned on a Monday, Tuesday and Saturday by our hairdressers, and appointments can be made at reception. There is a charge payable to the hairdresser, which is detailed in our reception area.

All service users are also welcome to bring in their own hairdresser, or to go out to salons elsewhere, should they wish to do so.

A locked compartment is available in each room for the safe storage of valuables, However it is recommended for larger amounts to be passed to the manager for storage in our safe. No responsibility for loss of valuables will be accepted unless items have been passed to our Matron for safe storage.
